- HALE Healthy Life Expectancy
- The average number of years a person can expect to live in good health — free of significant disease or disability.
- LTC Long-Term Care
- Sustained health and social support for people who can no longer manage everyday activities without help.
- Dependency ratio Old-age dependency
- People aged 65 and over relative to the working-age population (15–64), expressed as a percentage.
- Silver Economy
- The economic activity generated by the needs of people aged 50+, from health and care to housing, services and tourism.
- SHARE Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe
- A pan-European research infrastructure collecting comparable data on people aged 50 and over.
- EIP on AHA European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing
- An EU initiative coordinating innovation to extend the healthy years of European lives.
- KIS Research & innovation register
- The national register in which research and innovation projects are recorded — used here to track “longevity” projects.
